Debris Field Discovered Off Nantucket

U.S. rescuers have found debris off Nantucket, in the state of Massachusetts, as search efforts continue to determine the fate of the occupants of a plane reported missing Saturday morning.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the debris field has been confirmed to be related to the aircraft being searched for. Operations are ongoing to locate any potential survivors.

Aerial and maritime resources have been deployed in the area. A Coast Guard vessel is set to continue the search overnight to cover the sector and attempt to locate the individuals who were on board.

Medical Flight Between Bermuda and Boston

The missing plane was making a connection between Bermuda and Boston when it lost communication. The alert was triggered after the loss of contact reported Saturday morning by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. authority responsible for civil aviation.

The aircraft is described as a Gulfstream G100, a twin-engine jet used for transport and specialized movement missions.

The exact circumstances of the disappearance remain to be determined. The location of the debris should allow authorities to focus their investigations on the affected area.

Six People on Board

Six people were on the plane at the time of its disappearance. Among them were four Canadian nationals, including the two pilots, as well as two Bermudian nationals.

These included a patient who was to be transported as part of the medical flight and a family member.

U.S. authorities continue their search for the occupants, while maritime and aerial operations persist off the coast of Massachusetts.
