Medays Forum 2025: a southern voice shaping a new global balance
As global tensions deepen and polarization intensifies, the 17th edition of the MEDays International Forum—held in Tangier under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI—has reaffirmed Morocco’s role as a stabilizing power and strategic actor in global governance. Tangier, a historic crossroads between continents, once again became the meeting point for debates and perspectives shaping future geopolitical balances.
The 2025 edition brought together more than 300 speakers and 8,500 participants from nearly 130 countries, consolidating MEDays as one of the world’s leading geopolitical platforms and a structured, unified voice of the Global South.
Royal Vision as a Strategic Foundation
The forum’s discussions reflected the multidimensional vision of HM King Mohammed VI, whose diplomatic leadership and commitment to African integration have elevated Morocco’s influence on the international stage. MEDays has become a tool for expressing this vision—promoting sovereignty, clarity and pragmatic dialogue among Morocco, Africa and the Global South.
A High-Level Diplomatic Arena
The forum once again served as a prestigious platform where the positions of the South are articulated and heard. MEDays 2025 confirmed its status as a strategic forum, far beyond a simple space of debate, where converging views from Morocco, Africa and emerging nations shape international rebalancing efforts.
Resolution 2797 and the Green March Anniversary
This edition coincided with two major milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Green March and the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which reaffirmed the primacy of Morocco’s autonomy initiative for the Sahara. Leaders attending the forum welcomed this development and reiterated their support for Morocco’s territorial integrity. Several African officials renewed calls for the removal of the so-called “rasd” from the African Union, in line with the spirit of the 2022 “Tangier Appeal”.
The Atlantic Initiative as a Geostrategic Pillar
The Royal Atlantic Initiative occupied a central place in this year’s debates. Participants stressed its importance for creating an integrated African Atlantic space, strengthening connectivity, collective security and co-development. Sahel countries highlighted Morocco’s role in linking landlocked states to Atlantic trade routes through the Sahara.
A Gathering of Global Decision-Makers
The forum hosted an exceptional number of high-ranking officials, including presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers and heads of international organizations. MEDays 2025 confirmed itself as a global summit where the Global South engages in balanced dialogue with the North and sets out its strategic priorities with clarity.
Analyzing Global Fractures
Under the theme “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation,” the forum examined the challenges facing multilateralism, energy security, technological disruption and geopolitical tensions across multiple regions. Discussions highlighted the need for a fairer global governance system that acknowledges the growing influence of the Global South.
Medays Investment Summit: Driving African Growth
The MEDays Investment Summit brought together major investors, sovereign wealth funds and industry leaders, reinforcing Tangier’s position as one of Africa’s most dynamic business hubs. The summit emphasized Morocco’s role in green hydrogen, clean energy, infrastructure, industrial transformation and food security. It is increasingly viewed as a catalyst for strategic investment across Africa.
Youth and Innovation at the Heart of the Forum
More than 3,500 Moroccan and African students attended the event, reinforcing MEDays’ mission as a space for knowledge exchange and civic engagement. Their participation reflects the forum’s role as a “Geopolitics University,” nurturing future African leaders. The presence of 40 Moroccan startups also highlighted the country’s growing innovation ecosystem.
A Global Resonance
Extensive international media coverage underscored the global impact of the 2025 edition. Analyses emerging from the forum emphasized its influence in shaping Global South perspectives and proposing new models of global rebalancing.
The MEDays Forum has evolved into a strategic instrument contributing to the transformation of global governance. It amplifies the voice of the Global South, embodies Africa’s aspirations and reflects Morocco’s commitment—guided by the Royal Vision—to a more inclusive, balanced and just world order.
