Marrakech hotel prices overtake London and Paris at €188 per night

Marrakech has emerged as one of the more expensive destinations for hotel stays, with new travel data showing an average nightly rate of €188 for large groups, putting the Moroccan city above major European destinations such as London and Paris.

The figures come from travel platform Kayak and are based on searches for accommodation by groups of five or more people between March and September 2026, for trips planned between July and December of the same year.

The comparison highlights a notable gap between Marrakech and several leading European destinations. London recorded an average hotel rate of around €181 per night, followed by Barcelona at €176 and Amsterdam at €165.

Paris, one of the world's most visited tourist destinations, recorded an average of €144 per night, while Rome stood at €143.

Marrakech therefore ranked above all of these destinations in terms of average hotel prices, with New York the only city in the list recording a higher figure, at €307 per night.

Despite its relatively high accommodation costs, Marrakech did not top the list of destinations most searched by large travel groups. The city ranked eighth, behind London, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Amsterdam and Marseille.

Marrakech was also the only destination outside Europe among the top 10 cities for hotel searches involving groups of five or more people, highlighting its strong appeal among travelers planning group trips.

However, the figures reflect search activity rather than confirmed bookings. They therefore indicate interest in the destination but do not necessarily translate into completed reservations or actual tourist arrivals.

The picture is somewhat different in the short-term rental market. For groups of the same size, the average nightly rate in Marrakech was around €101. The city ranked fourth among the destinations most searched for this type of accommodation, behind Paris, Marseille and London.

The data underline Marrakech's continued appeal to travelers seeking accommodation for larger groups, whether in hotels or vacation rentals, while also highlighting the growing importance of accommodation costs in destination choices.

The figures also put Marrakech's hotel pricing under renewed scrutiny, particularly as its average rate exceeded those of several major European cities. Differences in tourism demand, operating costs, market structures and seasonal patterns, however, mean that direct price comparisons should be interpreted with caution.
