US secretary of state Marco Rubio arrived in Qatar on Tuesday, a week after an Israeli airstrike targeted the Qatari capital, Doha, in a move that has drawn widespread condemnation across the Arab world. The visit, coming directly after Rubio’s stop in Israel, underscores Washington's commitment to preserving Qatar’s key role in mediating efforts to end the ongoing Gaza conflict.
During his remarks to reporters en route to Doha, Rubio emphasized Qatar’s unique position as a mediator in the crisis, acknowledging the challenges posed by the recent attack.
