Madonna and Kylie Minogue release new collaboration on streaming platforms
A long-awaited collaboration between Madonna and Kylie Minogue is now available on streaming platforms, bringing together two of pop music's most enduring international stars.
“Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix)” was released at midnight on Friday, August 7, giving fans an official recording of a collaboration that had previously been performed live.
A surprise appearance in Amsterdam
The release follows Kylie Minogue's surprise appearance alongside Madonna at a “Club Confessions” event in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on August 1.
The Australian singer joined Madonna during the event celebrating the release of the American artist's latest album, “Confessions II.” The pair performed the remix together on stage before confirming that the collaboration would be released.
Their performance effectively put an end to months of speculation surrounding a possible musical meeting between the two artists.
Two pop icons finally join forces
Madonna and Kylie Minogue have frequently been compared throughout their careers, but their relationship has also been marked by mutual admiration.
One of the most memorable early references came at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2000, when Madonna appeared wearing a T-shirt bearing Kylie Minogue's name.
Their professional relationship later developed into an onstage meeting. During Madonna's world tour stop in Los Angeles, the two singers eventually performed together, marking a highly anticipated reunion between artists whose careers have repeatedly crossed in the pop-cultural conversation.
A collaboration with a long history
Their previous performance together included a rendition of “I Will Survive”, originally made famous by Gloria Gaynor, followed by an a cappella performance of Minogue's signature hit “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.”
