Lennart Monterlos returns to France after months detained in Iran
Lennart Monterlos, the 19-year-old Franco-German cyclist, who was imprisoned in Iran in June during a bike tour, returned discreetly to Paris on Thursday morning.
Sources close to the case confirmed that Monterlos landed at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport shortly before 9:20 a.m. after several months of detention. He left the airport quietly, avoiding media attention.
The young cyclist had been traveling through Iran when he was detained in June, sparking concern in France and Germany over his safety and treatment. His release comes after diplomatic efforts to secure his return.
