Lebanon sets up emergency unit to assist citizens abroad amid regional crisis

Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the creation of an emergency coordination unit to assist Lebanese nationals residing or traveling abroad as tensions escalate across several countries in the region.

In an official statement, the ministry said it is closely monitoring developments with “deep concern” following the outbreak of war involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. The newly established emergency cell will operate between the ministry’s headquarters in Beirut and Lebanese diplomatic missions overseas to ensure continuous follow-up on unfolding events and respond to citizens’ needs.

The ministry urged Lebanese nationals currently present in affected areas to exercise extreme caution, strictly comply with the instructions of local authorities, and adhere to all safety measures implemented by host governments. Officials emphasized that these precautions are essential to safeguard public safety.

Bustros Palace also called on Lebanese citizens to immediately contact their respective diplomatic missions in case of emergency. According to the statement, Lebanese embassies and consulates in the concerned countries are operating around the clock under the direct supervision of Foreign Minister Joe Raggi and are fully prepared to receive emergency calls.

The ministry reaffirmed that the safety and dignity of Lebanese citizens, wherever they may be, remain a top priority. Authorities pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely and to provide all possible assistance.
