Kremlin says Russia-US cooperation could stabilize global energy markets

The Kremlin said that potential cooperation between Russia and the United States could play an important role in stabilizing global energy markets, although no concrete agreements have yet been reached.

Speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that dialogue between the two major energy producers could have a positive influence on global market stability.

“It is obvious that interaction between Russia and the United States in energy markets can and should be an important factor in stabilizing these markets,” Peskov said, adding that discussions on the matter are ongoing but that it is still too early to speak about effective cooperation.

Peskov also commented on contacts between Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev and US representatives during meetings held in Miami. According to the Kremlin, Dmitriev is returning to Russia and is expected to brief the president on the outcome of those talks.

The Kremlin spokesperson also addressed comments by the leaders of Ukraine and France calling for increased pressure on Russia. Peskov argued that such positions demonstrate a lack of willingness to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

He added that Moscow continues what it describes as a “special military operation” while maintaining that it remains open to diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful settlement.

Regarding reports that Ukrainian specialists in counter-drone systems had been deployed to the Middle East, Peskov said this was a matter of bilateral cooperation between Kyiv and the countries requesting assistance, and that Russia would not comment further.

Peskov also reiterated Moscow’s position on the situation involving Iran, emphasizing that Russia favors political and diplomatic solutions to reduce tensions and bring stability to the region.

Finally, he addressed the future of the International North-South Transport Corridor, noting that significant progress had already been made on the initiative. However, he acknowledged that parts of the project involving Iran cannot currently move forward due to the regional situation, although interest in the corridor remains strong among participating countries.
