Israeli Forces Target Diplomatic Delegation Including Moroccan Ambassador in Ramallah
Reliable sources from Ramallah have reported that a diplomatic delegation including ambassadors, diplomats, and consuls came under live fire in the city of Jenin. Among those targeted was the Moroccan ambassador to the Palestinian Authority, who fortunately was not harmed. The incident caused widespread panic among the delegation, which was conducting a field visit to assess the dire living conditions of the Palestinian people under occupation.
Following the attack, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a strongly worded statement condemning what it described as a "heinous crime" by Israeli occupation forces. The Ministry stated that Israeli troops deliberately fired live bullets at an accredited diplomatic delegation accompanied by Arab and international journalists during a humanitarian fact-finding mission in Jenin.
The statement emphasized that the assault represents a blatant and serious violation of international law and diplomatic norms, particularly the Vienna Convention of 1961, which guarantees the safety and immunity of diplomatic missions. It also called the incident a dangerous escalation and deliberate provocation, reflecting Israel’s disregard for international norms and Palestinian sovereignty.
The Ministry held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for what it labeled a "cowardly attack" and warned that such acts would not go unpunished. It urged the international community especially the countries whose representatives were among the targeted delegation to take a firm stance and implement deterrent measures against the Israeli authorities, including legal accountability.
The statement concluded by reiterating the urgent need for international protection for both the Palestinian people and diplomatic personnel operating in Palestinian territories.
