Israel Intensifies Gaza Strikes as UN Warns of 14,000 Babies at Risk
Israeli forces have intensified their offensive on Gaza, with at least 42 people reported killed since early morning strikes, amid growing international condemnation from the United Kingdom and the European Union, who labeled the campaign “monstrous.”
Gaza officials claim that Israel's continued blockade and severe restrictions on food and humanitarian aid described as a “starvation policy” have resulted in the deaths of at least 326 Palestinians since March 2.
The United Nations has sounded the alarm that 14,000 infants in Gaza could die within the next 48 hours due to lack of nutrition and medical assistance. Despite a few aid trucks entering the besieged territory, the UN reports that no meaningful distribution has occurred due to Israeli-imposed limitations.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the war has so far killed at least 53,573 Palestinians and injured 121,688 others. The Government Media Office places the death toll at over 61,700, noting that thousands remain buried under collapsed buildings and are presumed dead.
Meanwhile, in Israel, the October 7, 2023, attacks led by Hamas resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,139 people and the abduction of more than 200 others.
