Iranian president urges Muslim nations to sever ties with Israel

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian has urged Muslim-majority countries to sever their diplomatic ties with Israel, describing the Israeli state as a "false regime." His remarks come ahead of an emergency summit in Doha, Qatar, where leaders are expected to address the recent Israeli attack targeting Hamas officials in the Gulf state.

In a statement made Monday, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of unity among Muslim nations, calling for coordinated efforts to defend shared values and regional interests.

"It is possible for Muslim countries to cut their ties with this fake regime and to preserve their unity and cohesion as much as possible," he stated.

While Iran has long been a critic of Israel, Pezeshkian’s comments mark a continuation of Tehran’s efforts to rally Muslim solidarity in opposition to Israeli actions, especially those impacting Palestinian groups like Hamas.

The situation adds to the growing tensions in the region, as countries weigh diplomatic consequences and long-term security concerns.
