Iran warns of future strikes on US bases if attacked

In his first public remarks since the ceasefire with Israel, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that any future U.S. military action would be met with direct retaliation targeting American bases in the Middle East. Speaking on state television from an undisclosed location, Khamenei declared Iran's recent military response as a strategic success, particularly referencing Tehran’s strike on the largest U.S. military base in Qatar following Washington’s intervention in support of Israel.

Khamenei, 86, emphasized that Iran would never surrender to American pressure, directly addressing President Donald Trump’s stance. He stated that Washington’s goal is nothing less than full capitulation from Iran—something he assured would never occur.

He also highlighted Iran’s capability to hit critical American assets in the region and warned that similar attacks could be repeated if necessary. “The Islamic Republic has demonstrated it can strike important U.S. targets in the region,” he said, stressing that this ability marks a significant strategic development.

The Supreme Leader criticized the U.S. intervention, claiming it yielded no tangible results despite recent attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. He asserted that Washington’s main motivation was to protect Israel after Iranian missiles penetrated its advanced defense systems. “The United States entered the conflict to prevent the complete collapse of the Zionist regime,” Khamenei added.

Although President Trump boasted that massive U.S. bombings had obliterated Iran’s nuclear capabilities, internal assessments reportedly challenge that claim. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a “historic victory,” asserting that Israel had neutralized the threat from Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. He later posted an image with Trump, reaffirming their alliance against mutual adversaries.
