On October 30, 2024, Mr. Anouar Sabri, the head of the Morocco-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group, engaged in pivotal discussions with a visiting Australian parliamentary delegation led by Rowan Ramsey. This meeting, held at the Moroccan Parliament in Rabat, marks a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations as the delegation's visit extends until November 2.
In his opening remarks, Sabri highlighted the robust ties that have developed between Morocco and Australia since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976. The recent opening of embassies in both nations has facilitated a closer alignment of perspectives and strengthened their shared positions on international platforms. This development opens avenues for collaboration across various sectors, including renewable energy, education, and economic development.
Sabri elaborated on Morocco's initiatives aimed at fostering social and health inclusion, ensuring universal health coverage, and enhancing infrastructure and services. He underscored the importance of sustainable agriculture, rural development, local economic empowerment, food security, and environmental protection.
During the discussions, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation and the exchange of innovative solutions in areas such as clean energy, sustainable agriculture, water management, and green economy initiatives. They also expressed interest in enhancing academic, cultural, and tourism exchanges.
Attending alongside Sabri were members of the parliamentary friendship group, including Deputy Marwa Al-Ansari and deputies Aziz Labar, Ibrahim Aaba, and Mustafa Ibrahim. The Australian delegation comprised Ramsey from the Liberal Party, along with Steve Georganas from the Labor Party, Hollie Hughes from the Liberal Party, Michael McCormack from the National Party, and Warren Entsch from the Liberal Party.
This meeting not only signifies a deepening partnership between Morocco and Australia but also reflects a mutual desire to explore new horizons for collaboration that can benefit both nations economically and socially.
