Indonesian UN peacekeeper dies after injuries sustained in Lebanon

An Indonesian peacekeeper serving with the United Nations has died after being seriously injured in an attack on a UN base in southern Lebanon, underscoring the dangers faced by international forces operating in conflict zones.

The soldier, Corporal Rico Pramudia, had been critically wounded on March 29 when a projectile struck his position in the area of Adchit Al Qusayr. The explosion occurred during a period of heightened clashes in the region, where tensions between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters have intensified.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed his death, expressing condolences and paying tribute to his service. His passing highlights the ongoing risks faced by peacekeepers tasked with maintaining stability in volatile environments.

According to UN officials, this incident is part of a broader escalation that has placed peacekeeping troops in increasingly precarious situations. Since the beginning of the latest conflict, several UN personnel have been killed or injured while carrying out their duties.
