HM King Mohammed VI’s advisors consult parties on updated Sahara plan
On Monday, November 10, 2025, advisors to His Majesty King Mohammed VI convened a meeting with the leaders of national political parties represented in both chambers of the Moroccan Parliament. The session, held at the Royal Cabinet in Rabat, was attended by the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad.
The meeting focused on updating and formulating in detail the Moroccan autonomy initiative for the Sahara, in line with the King’s instructions following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797. The advisors emphasized the Sovereign’s commitment to a participatory approach, inviting political parties to submit their visions and proposals regarding the initiative.
Party leaders welcomed the positive developments in the Sahara issue and praised the Royal decision to involve national institutions and civil society in shaping an updated, integrated autonomy plan. The initiative aims to ensure the return of Sahrawi families from Tindouf camps, restore their local governance under Moroccan sovereignty, and reinforce national unity.
Leaders also reiterated their full support for the King’s efforts to defend Morocco’s territorial integrity and consolidate the Moroccan identity of the Sahara. They committed to submitting memorandums and proposals to the Royal Cabinet within the coming weeks, responding to the King’s invitation for comprehensive consultation on this critical matter.
