Heist at the Louvre Museum forces closure for the day

A heist occurred at the Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday morning, prompting authorities to close the museum for the entire day, announced France’s Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. The closure was described as due to “exceptional circumstances” in a statement shared on social media.

The incident reportedly took place shortly after the first visitors arrived, although the exact time has not been confirmed. Law enforcement is currently deployed at the site, and visitors are urged not to come to the museum.

As one of the most iconic cultural landmarks in France and one of the most heavily monitored sites in the capital, the Louvre’s complete closure has shocked both Parisians and tourists. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the precise circumstances of the heist and whether any artworks or valuable items were stolen.
