Heavy snowfall disrupts traffic in Ifrane and Midelt
Heavy snowfall has severely disrupted road traffic in the Moroccan provinces of Ifrane and Midelt, causing partial and full closures on several major national and regional routes over the past hours.
Unusually harsh winter conditions have led to the accumulation of thick snow layers on key road networks, prompting local authorities and road maintenance teams to intervene in order to clear affected routes and restore safe circulation.
In the province of Ifrane, several national and provincial roads have been closed due to difficult driving conditions. Some key connections linking Azrou, Timahdite and surrounding mountainous areas have been rendered impassable, while other sections remain accessible only to escorted convoys and non-articulated vehicles.
Traffic has also been heavily affected in Midelt province, where snowfall continues to hamper movement on multiple national and regional roads. Several axes connecting Midelt to neighboring provinces have been temporarily closed, while a limited number of routes remain open under controlled conditions.
Authorities have mobilized technical teams working around the clock to remove snow and ensure road safety. Road users are strongly advised to follow official instructions, avoid non-essential travel and refrain from using closed routes until conditions improve.
