Gulf Airlines restore flight operations after Iran conflict truce
Air travel across the Gulf region is gradually returning to normal as major airlines Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways resume more of their flight operations following a truce linked to tensions involving Iran.
The gradual recovery comes after several months of disruption in Middle Eastern airspace, which had forced airlines to reroute flights, reduce schedules, and adjust global connections. Key aviation hubs such as Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi are now steadily re-establishing their role as major international transit centres linking Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
Before the disruption, these hubs were among the most important global interchange points for long-haul travel, with millions of passengers transiting through the region each year on routes such as Paris–Bangkok via Doha or London–Sydney via Dubai.
According to aviation tracking data cited by Reuters, flight activity among major Gulf carriers has now recovered to approximately 82% of pre-conflict levels. While not yet fully restored, the rebound marks a significant improvement after weeks of cancellations, diversions, and operational uncertainty.
Airlines have been working to rebuild confidence among passengers and restore full network capacity. However, industry observers note that the situation remains sensitive, as regional stability continues to be a key factor influencing global flight routes and airline scheduling.
The gradual normalization of air traffic highlights the Gulf’s strategic importance in global aviation, while also underlining how quickly geopolitical tensions can disrupt one of the world’s most critical transport corridors.
