Google ends YouTube support for older Android phones

Google has begun phasing out technical support for the YouTube application on smartphones running older versions of the Android operating system, a move that could affect a large number of users with outdated devices.

The change reportedly applies to phones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and earlier versions of the operating system. By ending support for these older platforms, Google is encouraging users to move to newer Android versions that benefit from improved security features and continued software updates.

Devices running Android 7.0 Nougat and newer versions are expected to remain supported. However, users with older smartphones may eventually encounter difficulties when attempting to access the YouTube application or receive updates.

Technology experts recommend that affected users try accessing YouTube through a web browser if the dedicated application stops functioning. Users are also encouraged to check whether their devices can receive any available operating system updates or consider upgrading to a newer smartphone.
