Global campaign amplifies Achraf Hakimi’s Ballon d’Or bid

Achraf Hakimi’s stellar performances and leadership at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have sparked a global campaign advocating for his inclusion among the top contenders for the prestigious Ballon d’Or. Support for the Moroccan star has transcended borders, with fans, public figures, and media personalities rallying behind his candidacy.

Guillaume Huin, a prominent figure on social media and McDonald’s senior marketing director, recently voiced his support, describing Hakimi as unmatched in consistency, leadership, and game-changing abilities. “I love Dembele. I adore Yamal. But no one sits at the table with Hakimi from PSG,” Huin wrote on X, praising Hakimi’s extraordinary contributions during PSG’s recent clash against Bayern Munich, including his remarkable assists.

Huin further highlighted Hakimi’s versatility, noting, “He scores, he assists, he defends, he runs endlessly, and he commands his team with immense charisma.” He also remarked that failing to recognize Hakimi among the top three Ballon d’Or contenders would be “one of the biggest anomalies in the history of sport.”

Growing recognition for Hakimi’s achievements

Hakimi has had a standout season, with his performances in the FIFA Club World Cup and other competitions reinforcing his Ballon d’Or bid. A report by Agence France-Presse (AFP) this week underscored his vital contributions to PSG’s success, while former French international Jean-Michel Larque described Hakimi as one of the best full-backs in the world. Larque also advocated for greater recognition of defensive players in the Ballon d’Or rankings, something many fans and analysts believe is overdue.

Former Moroccan goalkeeper Badou Zaki added his voice to the campaign, arguing that Hakimi epitomizes the values the Ballon d’Or should reward. “We talk about team trophies, personal contributions, and the values a player brings to the game. Hakimi belongs in that conversation,” Zaki said.

A global icon in the making

Hakimi’s leadership on and off the pitch has inspired fans around the world, with his rising popularity reflecting his impact on the game. As the Ballon d’Or race heats up, the global campaign behind Hakimi highlights the growing demand for recognizing defensive players who consistently deliver brilliance and embody the spirit of football.
