GITEX Africa Morocco 2026 targets AI-led digital cooperation
GITEX Africa Morocco 2026 will return to Marrakech from April 7 to 9, positioning the city as a central meeting point for global technology leaders, policymakers, and startups focused on Africa’s digital transformation.
Organized by Digital Development Agency and KAOUN International under the supervision of Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, the event aims to move beyond discussion and focus on practical implementation of technology solutions.
Trixie LohMirmand, chief executive of the event, said this year’s edition emphasizes execution and responsible artificial intelligence. She described the platform as a space where global innovation aligns with African priorities and sovereignty in digital development.
Held under the theme “Catalyzing Africa’s Digital Economy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” the gathering will bring together key actors in the tech ecosystem to address how to build responsible AI infrastructure and scale impactful solutions across the continent.
The event also supports broader policy alignment through initiatives such as the Digital for Sustainable Development Hub, launched by Morocco’s digital ministry in partnership with United Nations Development Programme. The platform seeks to strengthen Arab and African cooperation by sharing expertise, developing skills, and deploying AI solutions adapted to regional development needs.
Amal El Fallah Serghouchni, Morocco’s minister of digital transition, said the initiative aims to position digital technology as a core driver of co-development across Africa. She stressed the need to link innovation with sustainable development and tangible improvements in public services.
Amine El Meezouaghi, head of the Digital Development Agency, highlighted artificial intelligence as a key lever for accelerating digital progress. He emphasized the importance of aligning public policy, infrastructure, and investment to support long-term growth.
The event is expected to reinforce its role as a platform that connects African and international stakeholders around practical, scalable solutions tailored to the continent’s realities.
