German police raid properties after nationwide bomb threat emails

German police carried out coordinated raids across several federal states after a group allegedly sent hundreds of fake bomb threat emails targeting schools, train stations and other public venues, prompting large-scale security responses.

The Federal Criminal Police Office said on Tuesday that searches were conducted in North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Hesse. Four suspects, including two minors, are under investigation.

Authorities accuse the group of distributing hundreds of threatening emails that falsely warned of bomb attacks on educational institutions, major railway stations, shopping centres and other public sites. The messages repeatedly triggered police deployments and emergency protocols.

Prosecutors said the intent behind the campaign was to disrupt public order by threatening criminal acts, maximising police mobilisation and generating widespread fear among the population.
