Game studio apologizes for AI generated art in Amsterdam demo
Panache Digital Games has issued an apology after confirming that AI generated assets appeared in a playable prologue demo and promotional materials for its upcoming action adventure title set in Amsterdam. The studio acknowledged that early versions of certain visual elements were mistakenly included in the public release following feedback from players during a major game industry showcase.
The game, created under the direction of Patrice Désilets, was presented with a trailer and a free prologue made available on major PC platforms. Shortly after release, players began identifying inconsistencies in character portraits and marketing visuals, raising concerns that generative AI had been used in the final build. The discussion spread quickly across gaming communities, prompting scrutiny of the development pipeline and asset creation process.
In response, the studio confirmed that its internal review found several preliminary assets had been unintentionally shipped. The company stated that its art team had not intended these materials to appear in the public demo and described the situation as an error in version control and asset management. It also pledged to replace all affected visuals with human made artwork in an upcoming update.
The studio also sought to reassure players that AI generated content would not be present in the early access release or the final version of the game planned for 2026. Despite this commitment, parts of the community expressed skepticism, questioning how the oversight occurred and whether similar issues could reappear in future builds.
