French drug kingpin Firat Cinko sent to trial over international cocaine network
French judicial authorities have ordered the trial of Firat Cinko, widely regarded as one of the country’s most significant cocaine traffickers, marking a major step in a long-running investigation into international drug routes supplying France.
According to judicial sources, investigating judges have issued an indictment referring the 39-year-old suspect to a special criminal court, where he will face charges related to leading and organizing a large-scale international drug trafficking network. Prosecutors allege that the operation was coordinated both from upscale neighborhoods in Paris and, later, from inside prison.
Cinko is accused of overseeing cocaine imports between 2020 and 2021 using maritime and air routes linking mainland France, overseas territories in the Caribbean, and suppliers in South America. Authorities believe the network relied on sophisticated logistics and substantial financial resources to move and distribute large quantities of narcotics.
More than 20 additional suspects are also set to stand trial for their alleged roles within the organization, ranging from logistics to financial management. If convicted, Cinko could face a life sentence under French law.
Investigators say the case exposed a highly structured criminal network that played a central role in supplying cocaine to the French market. Seizures linked to the investigation reportedly included shipments amounting to several hundred kilograms of cocaine intercepted at major ports.
The case also highlights broader concerns over the scale of cocaine trafficking in France and the challenges faced by authorities in dismantling networks that operate across borders while maintaining local influence and high-end lifestyles.
