French delegation explores development momentum in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab

A delegation from the city of Nice, France, visited the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region on Tuesday to explore the area's economic and infrastructure development, as well as its potential for future cooperation and investment.

Led by Olivier Bettati, Special Advisor to the Mayor of Nice, the delegation was welcomed by regional officials, including the Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, Ali Khalil, and the President of the Dakhla Municipal Council, Erragheb Hormatollah.

“This region is undergoing remarkable multisectoral development thanks to the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” Bettati stated after the meeting. He also emphasized Dakhla's growing role as a strategic gateway between Europe and sub-Saharan Africa.

The visit provided the French delegation with an overview of Dakhla’s emerging infrastructure, investment opportunities, and economic incentives. During the meeting, discussions also touched on the possibility of a future partnership agreement or twinning initiative between Nice and Dakhla.

The delegation was presented with a detailed briefing by Ahmed Kathir, interim Director of the Regional Investment Center. He highlighted key figures regarding the region’s ongoing transformation and outlined flagship projects such as the Dakhla Atlantic port and the new seawater desalination plant.

The program included meetings with local authorities and site visits to major ongoing projects, reinforcing Dakhla’s position as a hub of sustainable development in southern Morocco.
