Fouzi Lekjaa rallies support for Morocco’s U17 team ahead of AFCON
Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has expressed unwavering support for the national U17 team as they gear up for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations (AFCON), which kicks off today in Morocco. In a motivational address to the Atlas Cubs, Lekjaa emphasized the importance of delivering a performance that honors the proud legacy of Moroccan football.
“The pressure is on you to live up to the hype and prove your mettle on the African stage,” he asserted, highlighting the expectations surrounding the young players.
Lekjaa, whose leadership has been pivotal in transforming Moroccan football over the past decade, also underscored the significance of unity and cohesion within the team. “It’s not just about individual flair. Greatness comes from teamwork and communication,” he remarked, stressing that collective effort is essential for success.
He further reminded the players that this competition represents more than just a trophy. “It’s a defining moment in your development. It’s about adopting a winning mentality. This AFCON is the perfect stage for that,” he stated.
The tournament commences this evening, with Morocco facing Uganda at 10 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT) at Al Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia. With the tournament taking place on home soil, the Atlas Cubs have a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and potentially earn call-ups to the senior national team for future international competitions.
