Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani feared aboard crashed Air India flight
Unconfirmed reports suggest that former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani may have been among the passengers onboard an Air India flight that crashed near Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday afternoon. The flight, AI171, was en route to London’s Gatwick Airport and reportedly carried over 240 passengers, including crew members.
Although official confirmation regarding Rupani’s presence on the flight is still awaited, sources cited by India Today indicated his possible inclusion among the passengers.
The crash occurred in a locality near the airport, with visuals from the scene showing plumes of smoke rising from the wreckage. Emergency services have been deployed to the site, and investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
