Fire at Marrakech conference center claims two lives, leaves three injured
A devastating fire broke out on Thursday evening, February 13, 2025, at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals and leaving three others injured.
According to a representative from the Marrakech prefecture, the injured were rushed to the intensive care unit at Mohammed VI Hospital after suffering severe burns caused by the flames.
The official further explained that the fire started inside an elevator while workers were conducting welding operations. The sparks from the welding ignited a blaze, which quickly spread and caused significant damage.
Emergency services managed to bring the fire under control in a short period of time. Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
