FIFA The Best 2024 Moroccan Stars Nominated for the Best XI
Once again, Moroccan football shines on the global stage, as three standout players from the Atlas Lions are in contention for spots in FIFA’s prestigious Best XI. Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi, and Soufiane Rahimi have been nominated in the categories of Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, and Best Forward, respectively. These nominations highlight their exceptional performances over the past year and their significant contributions to both club and national teams.
The voting process for various FIFA The Best categories is now open, inviting football fans worldwide to participate. For key awards such as Best FIFA Player, Best FIFA Women’s Player, Best FIFA Men’s Coach, Best FIFA Women’s Coach, Best FIFA Goalkeeper, and Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, voting is equally weighted among fans, team captains, head coaches, and media representatives, ensuring a diverse and inclusive decision-making process.
However, the Fan Award is uniquely determined solely by football enthusiasts, emphasizing the role of supporters in celebrating the sport's spirit. The FIFA Fair Play Award, on the other hand, is selected by a panel of experts. For honors like the FIFA Marta Award and the FIFA Puskás Award, votes are equally split between football fans and a panel of FIFA Legends.
A significant update in the voting procedure this year involves the FIFA Men’s and Women’s Best XI awards. Fans now play a more active role in selecting the ideal team. They can choose from a shortlist of 77 players and 77 players (including 22 defenders, midfielders, and forwards, as well as 11 goalkeepers in each category) to form their dream lineup. The final votes are equally distributed between a panel of experts and football fans, ensuring a balanced and representative outcome.
The nominations of Bounou, Hakimi, and Rahimi underline the growing influence of Moroccan talent on the international stage and provide a source of pride for their supporters. As voting progresses, fans across the globe eagerly anticipate the results of this celebrated event, which continues to honor the best in football.
