The 28th Fes Festival of Sacred Music: A Global Stage in Morocco

From May 16 to May 24, 2025, the imperial city of Fes will host the 28th edition of the Fes Festival of Sacred Music, an internationally acclaimed event that has become a cultural and spiritual hallmark of Morocco. This year’s theme, "Renaissances," perfectly aligns with the festival’s mission of bridging civilizations through sacred music traditions from across the world.

For nearly three decades, this festival has served as a crossroads of cultures, bringing together artists and audiences in celebration of the world’s sacred traditions. The 2025 edition will welcome over 200 artists from 15 countries, featuring strong representation from Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Notably, Italy, with its rich artistic heritage and symbolic association with the Renaissance, will take center stage as the guest of honor. Through a unique program, the festival will highlight the historical and cultural ties between Fes and Florence, two twinned cities. This collaboration promises to celebrate their shared heritage and deepen cultural exchanges.

The opening night promises to be an unforgettable highlight, unveiling an original musical and scenographic performance. This immersive spectacle will guide audiences through the histories of great civilizations, embodying the festival’s ethos by showcasing the diversity of artistic and spiritual expressions.

Abderrafih Zouitene, President of the Spirit of Fes Foundation, emphasized the significance of this year’s event: "Fes is an open city, a crossroads of civilizations that constantly reinvents itself while remaining true to its essence." His vision echoes the core values of the festival, which aim to preserve sacred traditions while fostering contemporary creativity.

In line with Morocco's commitment to South-South cooperation, the festival will also reinforce its African roots by featuring artists from Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burundi, Togo, and other nations. This focus on African musical heritage highlights the festival’s dedication to celebrating cultural diversity and promoting regional collaboration.

As the complete program and ticketing details are set to be unveiled soon, this edition is already shaping up to be a must-attend event for lovers of sacred music. It promises an immersive experience where spirituality and art transcend borders, offering a profound dialogue between cultures.
