FC Barcelona Broadens Horizons with New Casablanca Academy
In a strategic move to enhance its global presence, FC Barcelona has unveiled plans to launch a new Barca Academy in Casablanca this September. This initiative aims to enroll approximately 500 young talents, welcoming both boys and girls.
Following the successful establishment of its first academy in Rabat, this venture aligns with the club's mission to foster football development in Morocco. The Casablanca academy marks the 28th of its kind, adding to Barca's presence in 48 countries across five continents, including numerous training facilities and camps.
The club emphasized its commitment to delivering "comprehensive" training and enhancing its brand image. "Football and sports serve as tools for social cohesion, and Barca is a global driving force for the positive values it brings to society," the statement read.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) also announced plans to open a football academy in Casablanca, set to launch in September 2024. Situated in Tamaris, the facility will feature a full-size 11-a-side pitch and various smaller pitches for different game formats.
This decision underscores PSG's acknowledgment of its significant fan base in Morocco, bolstered by star defender Achraf Hakimi. With 4.9 million supporters, Morocco ranks as PSG’s 10th largest fan base.
