Fbi seeks Elpidio Reyna for assault on federal officer in Los Angeles
Federal authorities have identified Elpidio Reyna, 40, as the suspect accused of throwing rocks at Border Patrol vehicles during anti-ICE protests in Paramount, California, resulting in injuries to a federal officer. Reyna faces multiple charges, including assault on a federal officer, and could face up to eight years in prison if convicted.
The FBI is actively searching for Reyna, who is considered armed and dangerous, and has placed him on its Most Wanted list. A reward of $50,000 is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Authorities have executed a search warrant at Reyna’s residence as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident took place on June 7, 2025, when Reyna allegedly hurled rocks at law enforcement vehicles near Alondra Boulevard amid protests against immigration enforcement. The attack resulted in serious injuries to a federal agent and caused damage to government property.
U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli and Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized the federal government’s commitment to prosecuting individuals who assault law enforcement officials. Bondi warned that violent actions against federal officers would lead to severe legal consequences, stating, “Offenders can run, but they cannot hide.”
FBI Director Kash Patel echoed these sentiments, asserting that federal agencies will pursue anyone who attacks officers, regardless of their background or motives. The crackdown on violent demonstrators is part of a broader initiative to maintain order amid increased tensions surrounding immigration enforcement in Southern California.
Authorities are also reviewing protest footage shared on social media to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the violence during the demonstrations.
