Erdoğan rejects any “State Within A State” in Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that there can be no parallel authority or separate armed forces operating in Syria, emphasizing that the country’s future must be shaped through unity and peaceful political solutions.

Speaking at an official ceremony in Türkiye, Erdoğan stressed that Syria’s prolonged crisis can only be resolved through a political process that respects existing agreements and preserves the country’s territorial integrity. According to him, attempts to establish autonomous power structures would only repeat past mistakes and deepen instability.

The Turkish leader welcomed recent decisions aimed at guaranteeing fundamental rights for Syria’s Kurdish population, noting that these communities had long been marginalized under the former regime. He said Türkiye views such steps as positive signals toward national reconciliation and inclusive governance.

Erdoğan also underlined Ankara’s continued humanitarian assistance to Kurdish communities across the border, carried out in coordination with the Syrian authorities. He urged Kurdish citizens not to fall into what he described as divisive schemes designed to weaken social cohesion and regional brotherhood.

Looking ahead, Erdoğan announced plans for a large-scale reconstruction effort across Syria, particularly in areas devastated by years of conflict. He added that a stable and secure Syria would have beneficial effects for all neighboring countries, starting with Türkiye itself.
