Erdoğan affirms full support for a united and independent Syria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed strong support for Syria’s sovereignty and unity during the AK Party Parliamentary Group Meeting on Tuesday. Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey backs the Syrian government in its efforts to integrate territories currently controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDG).
Erdoğan criticized the SDG for failing to honor a March 10 agreement to disarm and hand over the territories they occupy in northern and eastern Syria. He described the group’s actions as obstructive, noting continued attacks on civilians and military targets outside these areas.
“Turkey has always advocated for a single Syrian state with preserved territorial integrity,” Erdoğan said. “We will not accept any separatist structure threatening our southern borders. We wholeheartedly support the struggle of the Syrian state and army in building a united, independent Syria where all ethnicities and faiths coexist.”
The president also highlighted Turkey’s role in mediating negotiations and providing advice to prevent further escalation of the conflict, underscoring Ankara’s commitment to regional stability.
