Billionaire Elon Musk has publicly admitted to regretting some of his recent posts about former US President Donald Trump, which escalated tensions between the two high-profile figures. Speaking on his social media platform, X, Musk said, “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”
The remarks follow a heated social media exchange in which Musk criticized Trump’s tax policies, calling them a “disgusting abomination.” The fallout intensified when Trump declared their relationship irreparably damaged and expressed no interest in reconciliation.
The conflict stems from broader political issues, including Trump’s proposed budget, which includes significant tax breaks and increased defense spending. The budget, passed by the House of Representatives and now under Senate review, prompted Musk to urge Americans to oppose it, warning it could trigger a recession later this year.
Adding fuel to the dispute, Musk made unsubstantiated claims linking Trump to unreleased government files connected to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender. The White House dismissed these allegations as baseless.
Trump, in turn, accused Musk of being irrational and threatened to revoke SpaceX's lucrative government contracts, estimated at $38 billion.
