Emergency responders in Venezuela have rescued an 11-year-old boy alive more than 72 hours after two powerful earthquakes devastated parts of the country, providing a rare moment of hope as search operations continue.

The child was pulled from the rubble in Caraballeda, a coastal community in northern Venezuela, where rescue teams remain engaged in an extensive effort to locate additional survivors trapped beneath collapsed buildings.

Death toll continues to climb

Authorities report that the twin earthquakes have caused widespread destruction, with the official death toll reaching 1,430. More than 50,000 people are still reported missing as emergency services continue search-and-rescue operations across the affected areas.
