Egypt unveils two restored New Kingdom tombs in Luxor

Egyptian authorities have unveiled two restored ancient tombs dating back to the New Kingdom in the city of Luxor, a major archaeological site on the banks of the Nile in southern Egypt.

The newly restored tombs, located on the west bank of Luxor, feature detailed wall paintings depicting scenes of daily life and ancient funerary rituals. These discoveries form part of ongoing archaeological efforts to preserve and showcase Egypt’s rich pharaonic heritage.

In a related presentation, officials also revealed a rare plaster sealing wall from the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, one of the most significant archaeological finds linked to the famous discovery made in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter.

Experts described the artifact as unique, noting that it is one of the few surviving original elements connected to the sealing of the royal tomb, as many ancient burial sites were looted over time. The object has been carefully restored by Egyptian specialists and is now being publicly displayed for the first time.

Authorities highlighted that these restorations reflect Egypt’s continued commitment to archaeological preservation and cultural tourism, particularly in Luxor, which remains one of the world’s most important centers of ancient history.
