Cultural Renaissance: The Moroccan Forum of Cultural and Creative Industries

The Moroccan cultural scene is gearing up for a creative surge with the inaugural edition of the Moroccan Forum of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI). Supported by the Hiba Foundation, the European Union, the French Institute of Morocco, and the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, this significant event, scheduled from December 7th to 10th, 2023, in Rabat, positions itself as a catalyst for the professionalization, structuring, and development of the sector.

Organized as part of the formulation of a Vision 2030, the Forum aims to build a flourishing Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) sector, representing 1% of the national GDP by 2030. Inclusive and open to a diverse audience, the event will bring together professionals, associations, students, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts, all driven by the desire to explore the intricacies of cultural and creative industries.

The Moroccan Forum of CCIs has the major goal of professionalizing the sector, aiming to make it an essential contributor to the national economy and a job generator. Through an integrated approach, the event aspires to create a dynamic platform fostering exchanges, partnerships, and the growth of cultural entrepreneurship. The focus is on building a national debate around the creative and cultural sector.

The inaugural edition of the Forum will revolve around four strategic axes: creative economies, economic models and financing logic, support and training, and copyright and intellectual property. Each of these themes will be explored through a carefully crafted scientific and artistic program.

The scientific program, consisting of panels, sectoral focuses, working groups, "Kawaliss" toolboxes, and speed meetings, offers a platform for in-depth discussions. The panels and sectoral focuses target professionals, associations, the curious, and entrepreneurs, addressing a variety of crucial topics for CCIs. Working groups will bring professionals together to discuss sector challenges, while the "Kawaliss" Toolbox will offer practical workshops for entrepreneurs and project leaders.

The artistic aspect of the Forum will be punctuated by an entrepreneurs' market, providing the general public with the opportunity to explore the products and services of entrepreneurs from the first cohort of the "Kawaliss" program and other actors specialized in CCIs. This immersion in Moroccan creativity will allow direct exchanges with entrepreneurs and the discovery of their innovative projects.

The Forum is part of the "Kawaliss" program, the Moroccan incubator for Cultural and Creative Industries by the Hiba Foundation in partnership with the European Union. "Kawaliss" aims to propel professional integration and cultural entrepreneurship by strengthening the capacities of project leaders in CCIs. This holistic approach includes support, financing, and monitoring to materialize high-impact projects.

The Moroccan Forum of Cultural and Creative Industries promises to be a pivotal moment in the construction of a dynamic cultural future in Morocco. With an ambitious vision and clear objectives, the event is set to be a source of inspiration, catalyzing innovative initiatives and laying the foundations for a flourishing cultural and creative sector in the country.
