Crédit Agricole du Maroc mobilizes support for flood-affected communities
Following severe weather conditions that recently impacted several regions across Morocco, Crédit Agricole du Maroc (CAM) has announced a comprehensive support plan aimed at assisting affected populations and farmers.
The banking group stated that the initiative seeks to mitigate the consequences of adverse weather on agricultural production and to facilitate the gradual revival of local economic activity. Through its nationwide network — including its conventional banking services and subsidiaries such as Tamwil El Fellah, ARDI Microfinance, Al Filahi Cash and Al Akhdar Bank — CAM will provide tailored assistance to clients on a case-by-case basis.
The support mechanism is structured around three main measures. First, CAM and its payment institution Al Filahi Cash will waive transfer fees for money orders sent to residents in affected areas for a period of two months. This step aims to ease financial transactions and provide immediate relief to households facing urgent needs.
Second, the group will offer payment facilities to impacted clients, particularly farmers whose production capacity has been disrupted by the extreme weather. These arrangements will be assessed individually to ensure appropriate solutions based on each situation.
Finally, CAM has pledged to mobilize the necessary financing to help farmers resume their activities as quickly as possible and under suitable conditions. The objective is to safeguard agricultural value chains and preserve income sources within rural communities.
By launching this initiative, Crédit Agricole du Maroc reaffirms its commitment to supporting national efforts in favor of affected regions. The group emphasizes its role as a long-term partner of the agricultural and rural ecosystem, working alongside public and private stakeholders to strengthen resilience in the face of climate-related challenges.
