Chinese officials meet Citigroup and Goldman sachs executives in Beijing
Chinese officials held high-level meetings in Beijing with leading American financial executives as both countries continue efforts to strengthen economic dialogue despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.
According to reports from state-backed media, senior Chinese authorities, including officials from the country’s securities regulator and Beijing’s municipal leadership, met with Jane Fraser, the chief executive officer of Citigroup. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in wealth management, financial services, and cross-border investment opportunities.
The visit took place during a broader delegation accompanying U.S. President Donald Trump on an official trip to China. The event marked the first visit to the country by an American president since 2017.
Several influential executives from major U.S. companies also attended meetings and business discussions in Beijing. Representatives from Apple, Meta, Boeing, Goldman Sachs, and other multinational corporations highlighted the importance of the Chinese market for global business growth.
Economic analysts believe the meetings demonstrate the willingness of both sides to maintain corporate and financial cooperation despite disagreements related to trade, artificial intelligence, and international politics.
Experts also noted that direct exchanges between business leaders and Chinese authorities could help improve communication channels and encourage future investment partnerships between the world’s two largest economies.
