China unveils measures to boost AI integration in consumer markets
China has announced a set of new policy measures aimed at accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence into the country’s consumer economy, covering both products and services.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the initiative includes 17 targeted measures designed to expand the use of AI technologies in everyday life. The plan focuses on improving the application of intelligent systems in households, businesses, and public services across the country.
In the consumer goods sector, authorities aim to transform traditional electronic devices into smart, AI-powered products. This includes encouraging the development of advanced technologies in areas such as smart home appliances and next-generation consumer electronics. Officials also highlighted plans to support the growth of emerging markets, including humanoid robotics.
On the services side, the measures seek to expand the use of artificial intelligence beyond retail into broader lifestyle and public service applications. The goal is to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance the quality of service delivery in sectors such as transportation, healthcare, and urban management.
Government representatives emphasized that artificial intelligence could help overcome structural challenges in the service industry, particularly issues related to labor shortages, rising costs, and limited standardization. By increasing automation and digital integration, AI is expected to play a key role in improving productivity and consumer experience.
The initiative reflects China’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a global leader in artificial intelligence and digital innovation. In recent years, the country has significantly increased investment in AI research, infrastructure, and industrial applications, aiming to integrate advanced technologies across all levels of the economy.
Analysts note that the expansion of AI in consumer markets could create new business opportunities while also reshaping traditional industries. However, it may also raise questions about workforce adaptation and regulatory oversight as automation becomes more widespread.
As China continues to promote technological transformation, the integration of artificial intelligence into daily consumption is expected to become a central pillar of its long-term economic development strategy.
