Chefchaouen: A medical caravan deployed to support populations affected by bad weather
A multidisciplinary medical caravan was organized on Tuesday in the commune of Aounane, in the province of Chefchaouen, with the aim of strengthening healthcare coverage for populations affected by recent adverse weather conditions.
Launched by the Chefchaouen Health District in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Laâyoune, the initiative forms part of a broader effort to bring essential health services closer to communities impacted by climatic hazards, particularly following heavy rainfall and exceptional weather recorded in recent days.
The medical mission mobilized significant human resources, including specialist doctors, general practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, midwives, and medical students. Volunteers from the Moroccan Red Crescent also contributed to ensuring the smooth organization of the operation.
According to local health officials, the main objective of the caravan was to facilitate access to medical consultations and provide free medication to residents in rural areas, where healthcare facilities remain limited. The initiative was carried out under the supervision of provincial authorities and in close coordination with local services.
Beneficiaries welcomed the initiative, highlighting its importance in improving access to healthcare and strengthening social solidarity, especially during periods of crisis caused by extreme weather.
