Casablanca unveils ambitious plan to expand provincial road 3011

Casablanca's local authorities are set to launch an extensive project to triple the capacity of provincial road 3011. This 1.8-kilometer stretch connects the roundabout on Sidi Maârouf road to the overpass spanning the A1 highway. With an allocated budget of 42 million dirhams, the initiative aims to ease traffic flow on this vital route, strategically situated between key economic and residential zones of the metropolis.

A future-ready infrastructure

The centerpiece of the project is the addition of a third lane in each direction, but its scope extends far beyond that. It includes recalibrating the road platform and upgrading the rainwater drainage system to prevent frequent flooding during heavy rainfall. To ensure durability, the road will receive a high-performance asphalt coating designed to withstand increasing traffic demands and minimize wear.

Enhancing safety and traffic flow

The project also prioritizes safety and efficiency. Plans include modernizing retaining structures and upgrading both horizontal and vertical signage. Specific adjustments to intersections and shoulders will optimize traffic flow and reduce conflicts among various users, including private vehicles, heavy trucks, and public transport.

Part of a larger urban strategy

This expansion aligns with Casablanca's broader vision of reconfiguring and modernizing its road network. With the rapid growth of the city's vehicle fleet, infrastructure must continually adapt to meet the rising demands of its users. Upgrading this route will strengthen connectivity between suburban areas and the urban center, alleviating congestion and cutting travel times.

Moreover, the project is expected to yield environmental benefits by reducing fuel consumption through smoother traffic flow, ultimately curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
