Casablanca set to host runners from 47 nations at the 2026 International 10K
Casablanca is preparing to become a hub of competitive distance running as the 2026 edition of the 10 km International by WeCasablanca takes shape as one of the most internationally diverse road races in the region. Scheduled for May 17, the event will bring together participants from 47 countries, a figure that underscores the race's growing appeal beyond Morocco's borders.
Organizers announced at a press conference that roughly 15,000 runners are expected to participate in this year's edition, including approximately 200 elite athletes targeting competitive finish times. The race course remains unchanged from the previous year, starting on Boulevard Al Massira near the Twin Center towers and winding through landmark thoroughfares including Boulevard d'Anfa and the Corniche, offering both participants and spectators a scenic tour through the heart of the city.
Race officials have emphasized that the event has outgrown its purely athletic origins and now functions as a vehicle for promoting Casablanca on the international stage. The 2025 edition drew 12,000 runners and helped cement the city's standing within the global road race circuit. That momentum has encouraged organizers to pursue an even more ambitious standard of execution in 2026, with technical teams confirming that all arrangements conform to international competition norms.
The race is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. and will be supported by a workforce of 200 judges and 400 volunteers deployed along the course. Beyond the competitive dimension, organizers view the event as a unifying fixture capable of bringing together residents and visitors around a shared vision of Casablanca as a modern, dynamic metropolitan center. The city's economic capital status is being reinforced through sport, with the race positioned as a recurring landmark on the calendar of major international competitions hosted in Morocco.
