Casablanca police seize 23,500 psychotropic pills and arrest two suspects
Authorities in Casablanca have arrested two individuals and seized a large quantity of psychotropic drugs during a coordinated police operation carried out on Friday night, 14 November. The operation involved the Prefectural Judicial Police Brigade and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
The first suspect was detained in a neighborhood of the city while allegedly caught distributing illegal substances. A search of his vehicle uncovered 23,500 psychotropic pills, including Ecstasy and Rivotril, as well as 400 grams of cocaine.
Police officers also found 7.7 kilograms of cannabis resin (chira), 5 kilograms of kif, and a sum of money believed to have been generated from drug trafficking.
Investigators subsequently identified a second suspect connected to the presumed criminal network. He was arrested while in possession of a vehicle suspected of having been used in drug-related activities.
Both suspects have been placed in police custody as part of an investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor. Authorities aim to determine the full scope of the network’s operations and clarify all charges against those involved.
