Casablanca Marathon at the center of new strategy to boost sports tourism in Morocco
A new strategic partnership has been launched in Morocco aimed at strengthening sports tourism through the development of the Casablanca Marathon as a major international event.
The Regional Tourism Council of Casablanca-Settat and the Association of the Grand Casablanca Runners have signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in promoting the marathon and improving its global visibility.
The partnership focuses on mobilizing tourism professionals to create tailored services for participants, visitors, and accompanying guests, both from Morocco and abroad. The goal is to position the event as a key annual fixture on the international running calendar.
Officials involved in the agreement say the initiative is designed to generate broader economic and tourism benefits for Casablanca, while also strengthening its reputation as a leading destination for sports-related events.
The strategy also aligns with Morocco’s broader ambitions ahead of major upcoming international competitions, including preparations linked to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, reinforcing Casablanca’s role as a growing hub for sports tourism in the region.
