Casablanca: judicial inquiry launched after suicide attempt at BNPJ headquarters
Authorities in Casablanca have opened a judicial investigation following a suicide attempt inside the headquarters of the Brigade nationale de la police judiciaire (BNPJ), according to official sources.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening while an individual, reportedly under investigation in connection with a criminal case, was present at the BNPJ premises as part of ongoing legal proceedings. Preliminary findings indicate that the person fell from a window located on an upper floor of the building, sustaining severe injuries.
Security officials stated that the inquiry was launched under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the event. On-site observations and initial investigative measures are being used to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine any contributing factors.
The injured individual was immediately transferred to a hospital in critical condition, where medical teams are providing necessary treatment.
The ongoing judicial investigation aims to clarify the details of the incident and assess responsibilities, if any, in accordance with Moroccan law. Authorities have not released additional information pending the outcome of the inquiry.
