Carrefour ground beef steaks recalled over possible metal fragments
A batch of frozen ground beef steaks sold in France under the Carrefour Extra brand has been recalled due to a suspected risk of containing small metal fragments, according to the national consumer alert platform Rappel Conso.
The affected product consists of 15% fat frozen pure beef patties sold in packs of 10x100g. These items were distributed in Carrefour and Match supermarkets across the country between April 23 and May 20, 2026.
Authorities identified the recalled batch as number 160920003, with barcode 3270190020103. The products have a best-before date of April 2, 2027. Consumers are advised not to eat the product and to either return it to the store or dispose of it safely in order to obtain a refund.
Food safety officials warn that the potential presence of small metal pieces may pose a risk of injury if consumed. A consumer hotline has been opened to assist with the recall process, and the procedure is expected to remain active until July 20, 2026.
This recall highlights ongoing food safety monitoring efforts in France and the importance of rapid response mechanisms to protect consumers.
