CAN 2025: police dismantle ticket trafficking network in Agadir
Police authorities in Agadir have dismantled an illegal ticket trafficking operation linked to matches of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025. The arrest was carried out on Friday by officers of the prefectural judicial police, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
According to official sources, the investigation began after monitoring units from the General Directorate of National Security detected suspicious posts on social media advertising the unauthorized sale of match tickets. These online activities raised concerns about speculation and black-market practices surrounding the continental football tournament.
Technical investigations and field inquiries led to the identification of a 37-year-old suspect. He was arrested near a major shopping center in Agadir during a targeted security operation.
Search and seizure procedures conducted as part of the case resulted in the confiscation of several tickets for CAN 2025 matches, along with a sum of money believed to be proceeds from the illegal activity.
The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. Authorities aim to clarify all aspects of the case and determine the criminal acts attributed to the individual. This operation forms part of broader efforts to combat ticket speculation and ensure fair access to sporting events.
