Brazil’s Lula extends lead over Flávio Bolsonaro ahead of presidential election, Poll shows
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has increased his lead over opposition senator Flávio Bolsonaro in the race ahead of this year’s presidential election, according to a new opinion poll released Wednesday.
The survey suggests that Lula would win a potential second-round runoff with 44% of the vote compared to 38% for Flávio Bolsonaro. The latest figures show a widening gap compared to previous polling, where the race appeared much tighter.
The poll, conducted by Quaest and commissioned by Genial brokerage, indicates that Lula has regained support after a period of fluctuating approval ratings. Analysts link the shift in part to recent political developments involving the opposition candidate.
Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America, is expected to hold its national presidential election in October, with campaigning intensifying in the coming months.
The results highlight a competitive political landscape, though current projections give the incumbent a clearer advantage heading into the decisive phase of the race.
